Learning spaces
Supporting collaboration, creativity, and independent learning
Learning spaces are more than classrooms – they shape how students think, collaborate, and grow. In our IB environment, strong teaching and purposeful design work together to create a vibrant learning community where curiosity inspires discovery, collaboration drives progress, and every student can succeed.
At SIS, our learning environments are flexible and thoughtfully designed to support a range of experiences. Open areas encourage discussion and teamwork, while quieter spaces provide opportunities for reflection and independent study. This balance nurtures curiosity, creativity, and student ownership of learning.
Our spaces can adapt easily to different approaches – from group work and dialogue to focused individual study – recognising diverse learning needs and empowering students to take initiative. When students feel comfortable, included, and connected, they engage more fully and share their ideas with confidence.
Our two city-centre campuses reflect these values. Both late 19th-century buildings have been carefully reimagined for contemporary education. Our secondary campus at Norra Latin, opened in 2023, demonstrates how a historic setting can be transformed into a dynamic learning environment for 21st-century education.

Tech Bar support
Each Learning Commons space features a TechBar that supports school technology.
Open daily from 9:30–11:30 on school days, the Tech Bars assist teachers, students, and parents.
You can book an appointment or drop in for face-to-face support.
They are part of our wider tech support system, helping resolve issues such as connectivity, hardware problems, classroom technology, digital learning platforms, and Google Workspace.
